WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD?

Sustainable seafood is seafood that is caught or farmed (also called aquaculture) with minimal environmental and social impacts. When done correctly, sustainable seafood sourcing ensures the long-term health and stability of that species, as well as the greater marine ecosystem. Choosing sustainable seafood is also a commitment to future generations.

WHERE IS YOUR SEAFOOD FROM?

Our seafood is carefully selected by our team of expexts, mainly from France and European countries! All the products arrive "fresh" in our plant in France and are processed, packaged and frozen there.

WHAT DOES SASHIMI GRADE MEAN?

It is commonly accepted and recommended that to consume raw seafood, fish like salmon should be frozen for at least 7 days at -20°c. This is exactly what we do with our frozen technologies. Most of the bacteria are killed during the freezing process thus safe to eat raw, in tartare, ceviche or shashimi.
In addition, our products undergo regular bacteriological analyzes and strict quality controls to ensure they respect all the sanitary regulations.

WHAT IS MSC CERTIFIED SEAFOOD?

Wild, traceable, sustainable: the MSC -Marine Stewardship Council- label is only applied to wild fish or seafood from fisheries that have been certified to the MSC Fisheries Standard, a science-based set of requirements for sustainable fishing.

This means:

  • Controlling the stock of fish in the ocean
  • Respecting habitats
  • Ensuring people who depend on fishing can maintain their livelihoods

WHAT IS ASC CERTIFIED SEAFOOD?

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) manages standards for responsible aquaculture. Products bearing the ASC label come from fish farms that have met these standards. The on-pack label demonstrates to consumers that their seafood comes from farms that limit their impacts on the environment and the community.

Conservation & defrosting

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY SEAFOOD?

Once you receive your products, you can:

- store them in the freezer and consume before the expiry date mentioned on the pack.
- store them in the fridge and consume within 3-4 days. Keep the products in its orignal packaging for a better preservation and avoid smells.

Once a QWEHLI product is completely thawed, you have the same shelf life as a “chilled seafood”.

HOW TO DEFROST MY SEAFOOD?

COLD WATER THAWING (Recommended)

For small portions/fillets & shrimps

  1. Small portions/fillets: Remove the carton but keep the product into its original pack during the thawing process.

Shrimps: Just pick the number of shrimps you want to defrost from your box.

  1. Immerse the product(s) in a cold-water bath (max 15°C) until complete thawing. Up to 15 minutes for a portion of 150g.
  2. It’s ready-to-cook! Consume within 1-2 days for maximum freshness.

REFRIGERATOR THAWING

For large fillet/whole fish

  1. Keep the product into its orignal pack and leave it in your refrigerator until complete thawing (around 24 hours for large fillet or whole fish of 1kg). You can use this thawing process for all types of seafood.
  2. It’s ready-to-cook! Consume within 2-3 days for maximum freshness.
